Technology
- Fixed Speed Air Conditioning – This is the traditional type of Air Conditioning unit which is still available. This uses a high starting current to operate and is a major user of electricity and expensive to operate
- Inverter Air Conditioning Works completely different to the fixed speed units. Starts slowly and builds up speed. Very often it will never get to its full working speed whilst giving the conditions required. This makes the Inverter Air Conditioning Unit 45% more efficient
- Inverter Driven Air Conditioning Units are in some cases cheaper than using natural gas. Cheaper than just using Electrical supply
- Inverter Air Conditioning for the home comes under 5% VAT only
- Inverter Air Conditioning for Businesses can be claimed under the capital allowance scheme.
Refrigerants
- Many Air Conditioning and Refrigeration plants are still using the Refrigerant R22. This is the last CFC Refrigerant to be phased out
- R22 Refrigerant parts are now getting harder to get hold of.
- Very often it is cheaper to replace an existing R22 System with the new Inverter HFC Refrigeration System
- Toshiba Air Conditioning have produced a paper showing the running cost saving, by replacing the R22 Refrigeration System for the Inverter HFC system
- During July 2007 the ‘F’ Gas regulation came into force.
- This regulation makes users of CFC – HFC Equipment, which holds 3kg of refrigerant or more, to have the equipment leak checked at least once a year via a certified personal.
